Stop Measuring Success by Activity—Focus on Impact

In the race to release more features, hit sprint velocity targets, and pump out product updates, it’s easy to lose sight of what really matters: the impact on your customers.

We often get so caught up in delivering as much as possible, as fast as possible, that we forget to ask ourselves:

Is any of this making a real difference?

Sometimes we don’t even measure success after a feature is released—we’re already sprinting toward the next one.

But here’s the truth:
👉 Your customers don’t care about your velocity.

👉 They don’t care how much you pack into a release.

👉 They care about this one thing:
Does your product deliver what they truly want, in a better way than
the alternatives?

Take a moment.

Pause.

Look at your product from a bigger perspective.

At the end of the day, what is the desire your solution solves for?

What other key desires drive your customers’ decision-making?

How well are you fulfilling those at a fundamental business and product strategy level—not just feature by feature?

Is your roadmap really aligned to deliver these desires in a way that will make you a market leader?

If not, it’s time to rethink.

Delivering on what your customers truly want will take you further than releasing 20 features no one cares much about.

It’s not about quantity.

It’s about quality.

Impact.
